Eating at The Meatball Shop a few weeks ago taught us that life really should be all about meatballs. You can do so many things with these amazing balls; look at TMS as an example!
The Meatball Shop was founded by Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow. The childhood friends decided to open their first location in 2010, with a mix-and-match type meatball based menu. It became a popular and trendy place for New Yorker's to grab brunch or dinner. This has lead The Shop to opening six locations around the city today.
To start this post off, we gotta talk about their genius menu. When arriving to the TMS on a hot Saturday afternoon, we were immediately seated and given a number of menu's. With black dry eraser markers, customers at The Meatball Shop check off what they would like to eat. Whether it be the Classic Beef Naked Balls in Classic Tomato sauce or something as extravagant as the Breakfast Sandwich, pictured above.
Doesn't this photo just make you want to drool?!? Ugh. Shown in front is the Breakfast Sandwich (Bacon, Fried Egg, and American Cheese and a choice of meatball, in this case Chicken on a Brioche Bun) served with a side salad. The sandwich was absolutely insane. All of the elements complimented each other beautifully. The chicken balls were lovely, the perfect size too! Side note: the salad was dressed with the most amazing dressing. This sandwich is quality brunch material and only offered on the weekends.
Next up, we went with an Italian classic (four Classic Beef balls in Classic Tomato sauce), and a side of the Broccoli Rabe Daily Risotto. Served with a fresh warm piece of bread, this entree was amazeBALLS (see what we did there!?!). The sauce and meatballs were super flavorful, and we could not stop eating that risotto. Such creamy goodness. OMG.
After a yummy yummy yummy lunch, we could not forget dessert! The Meatball Shop is known for their gigantic Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches made with Homemade Ice Cream and Cookies! It has been on our food bucket list (yes, that's a thing) for as long as we can remember. We had to try them, disregarding the huge food babies we already had after brunch.
We ordered one with Vanilla Ice Cream between two Chocolate Chip Cookies (#classic), and one with Espresso ice cream between two Brownie Walnut Cookies. Boy were they incredible! What is better than an Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich on a warm summer day?!
As we conclude this post, we expect you all to have dreams about meatballs and ice cream cookie sandwiches tonight. Hopefully this write up and that dream of yours will inspire you to take a trip to The Meatball Shop! It is an awesome place to eat and the food is so darn good. We are still having withdrawals. Until next time foodies, happy summer!!! XOXO
