Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to eat at Bluestone Lane (90th and 5th) on the Upper East side. It is situated inside of a church (a feature we had never seen before!), and it is right across the street from Central Park.
It is also one block from the Guggenheim Museum and one block from the Cooper Hewitt Museum.
As soon as we entered, we were welcomed with open arms by the friendly staff. Our waitress seated us outside, and the temperature was perfect under the umbrella. We were then offered Australian coffees of our choice.
We ordered two flat whites (heart shaped!) and an Aussie Iced Latte (espresso with milk and two scoops of ice cream!) The coffees were fresh and tasty, the perfect way to start the meal. We wish we could get our daily caffeine fix everyday with this type of coffee.
Next, we were brought an assortment of pastries:
Top: Cinnamon sugar doughnut
Left: Bear pastry (made out of almond meal)
Right: Almond croissant
All the pastries were fresh and scrumptious, so much so that we couldn't decide on our favorite! Needless to say, we devoured all three.
The fitzroy- pineapple, grapefruit, lime, and ginger.
Our last course was as incredibly delicious as the preceding dishes.
Avocado smash- a.k.a. the Australian version of avocado toast (a 3girls classic!)
Prosciutto sandwich on a baguette with beet hummus- so flavorful and scrumptious.
Gluten free banana bread with fresh ricotta, banana, toasted almonds, and honey- a culmination of flavors that served as our dessert (it was healthy too!)
After finishing our meal, we were fortunate enough to chat with manager Jaz and learn more about Bluestone Lane. Jaz explained that Nicholas Stone founded Bluestone Lane 3 years ago because he missed the coffee and cafe culture of Australia. Now, Bluestone Lane has over 14 locations in NYC and the Hamptons. Bluestone Lane's mission statement is:
"We are a premium and authentic cafe and coffee brand dedicated to bringing a world class experience to our locals every day"
The 3girls were awed by the high quality and authenticity of Bluestone Lane. We definitely plan on visiting again in the future and hope that you try this mouth-watering Australian Cafe!
